tagged and changing the "rules"

I got tagged by a few people about the 7  random/odd things about oneself
1. I don't know how to do those blue word hyperlinks yet. Dawn tried to show me one time and it didn't work and then life kept going.  So I won't tag anyone in particular but invite anyone to tag themselves.
2. I can drive really fast backwards.
3. I like to eat and drink things warm or even hot - yogurt, raisins, juice, water, even in the Summer.
3.I love to dress up in colorful clothes and esp wear skirts.
4.I  can't throw apple cores out in bad places like the highway. I save them to toss in a place where they can decompose or get eaten with some grace.
5. My clothes become dishevled the moment I put them on.
6. The hums and beeps of appliances do something to my brain and body that alters a flow I need to think and just be..
7. The posture of sitting in a chair is something I've never felt comfortable with. I like my legs pulled closer to my body or stretched out fully.
(8. This photo is my dream home.)

Oh, can I rent a room there?

Thank you for not throwing food off the side of the road - a lot of people think that's okay because the food is “bodegradable”, which it is - problem is, the food attracts the rodents, the rodents attract the raptors, the hawk or owl or whatever intersects with a motor vehicle driving on the road and bam! That's how the nature center I've been working at got most of it's raptors, injured by vehicles while hunting roadsides. So your instinct about tha bad places is very good!

Yes, please do open a B&B in your dream house. Or at least a Zaadz cafe where we could all come and meet and chat in Farland time. Here is my dream house: http://pods.zaadz.com/nightmare/discussions/view/181390

The house is high in the Western Fjords of Iceland it looks out across the sea to Greenland if one could see that far. It would be a strangest B&B can you imagine 6 months of near darkness. A good place to unwind. I  think about the Raptors somwhere in my apple core thoughts. The road between Co. and Utah is a place where many big birds lie mangled esp. Great Horned Owls.  Apple to rodent to owl to car everything is connected.

More. I went inside the stairs are narrow and curve around. I found some torn and dirty fabric in one corner. I picked out one piece and brought it home. I made it into a curtain for my kitchen in Moab.  This house must already be a Zaadz cafe in spirit.

it reminds me of the spectacularly decrepit old tarpaper house i explored this past september up in ohio. thoroughly ruined and falling to pieces but full of old glass bottles and green vines growing up amidst the fading green vines of the wallpaper. branches coming in the windows, taking back the house, inexorably.

We almost bought a hundred year old house in a town north of here.  Life permeates buildings that old.  The basement was a trip - lined with stones.

I can't do those blue wordy things either - but would like to be able to.  As for driving backwards fast - Yee-ha!

farland– your clothes are already disheveled before you put them on– that's why you pick them.  clean– that's fine with you, but ironed or neat–no.  you pick them because they're disheveled.  :-)

house/cafe – Iceland is now #1 on the UN's? list of best countries to live-norway was first the past six years, but now it's iceland.   you know there's dancing in the dark, but lighted streets of reykjavik this week!

blue wordy things (is that just like “runny people”) – this is for anyone who wants to learn the magic…..

first– type a sentence.  or a word.  or a letter – A

then, highlight it, as if you want to cut and paste it.

when you highlight the text that you would like to see turn into a “blue wordy thing” you will notice that the icon that looks like a whole chain link (up there by the bold and italics and spell checker thingies at the top of the box where you are typing your blog entry or your comment) will go from grey out to active.

click on that very chain link looking icon.

when you do a box should pop up.  it will be titled “insert/edit link” and in that box you need to put the “url” of the website you'd like to link to.  so– you might need to open a new browser window (in windows land it's Ctrl + N and on a mac it's Command + N) and go to the site you want to link to and then highlight the address of that site (the url), copy it, go back to the little insert/edit box here on zaadz and paste it into the field called “link url”.   then click the “insert” button and voila– you have a blue wordy thing that people can click on to see what you would like to share with them.  comprende?  no?  click here for someone else's instrucions.  much more simpler maybe too.  :-)

and – lastly.  good morning.  I luff ya.

Thank you Dawn. I sort of knew you'd show me like this and now Otter too. And now please tell me about the significance of 7 windows.

Dawn, that was great!
I want to add something, too - you have a drop down in the window where you paste the url which gives you the option to “open in a new window” - I wish that was the default option because I don't like getting redirected and having to toggle windows, but anyway, I thnk it's a nice thing to choose.
Wow, it's so much easier to do than to describe, isn't it? Like verbal instructions for how to tie shoes or something, easy to do but tangly in the telling.

It does look dreamy, kind of Daliesque in a way. I can picture  wind, ghosts, and quiet  inside. Ditto with apple cores, orange rinds, and banana peels.

significance of 7
I googled it.
here's the favorite thing that I found…
Consider the following: A cube has six sides. We live in a universe of three dimensions. Each dimension has two directions: front-back, right-left, up-down; yielding a total of six. The seventh is then the middle point, a thing of zero dimensions, and untouchable. Present but intangible. It therefore represents the holiness which is inherent in the universe.

rapunzel, doing is always easier than teaching I think, but harder than criticizing.  :-)  I think I always learn something from teaching or describing though.

Dawn - oh yes! Sometimes the way I trick myself into learning something is to tell myself that I have to be prepared to teach it to someone else. That makes me own the learning in a way that nothing else does.

Farland, I'm the same way with clothing. wrinkles love me and my coats and sweaters always end up hanging at weird angles. I've never understood it and don't really mind it but I'm glad someone else has the same experience. of course, the chaos that is my closet is probably not terribly conducive to a change in this pattern.
this house really reminds me of the house in the film The Shipping News.

I got tagged by Peridot and Jeannie and in several other shoutouts and an email.  I lost track of it all and forgot to notify the people I'd taged in turn.  Sheesh.  Anyway, I decided to randomly post as commentary my seven random things (how appropriate) and break the rules and, well, here….

Now why do I have to write down seven random things about myself?  I can think of six things, or eight, but seven?  That's hard to do.  But I'll try:

1.  I have to read.  No, I mean I have to.  Anything - cereal boxes, newspapers, books, old TV set owner's manuals, anything, anything at all.  And everything too.
2.  I played the character “Knowledge” in a Wakefield Players adaptation of the 16th century morality play Everyman…In NYC…to a packed house in St John's Cathedral…with Jack Kerouac in the audience.  But I was only fourteen - I didn't know who Kerouac was, although he was friendly and said 'hi, good job' after the performance.
3.  I went to the Bob Bondurant school for qualification and then raced BMW 2002's in SCCA sanctioned events.  Never won, but did come in 2nd once.
4.  My favorite moments are spent under a crystalline night sky - the kind when it's ten degrees and the air itself is brittle.
5.  I have a weakness for great cognac and Cuban cigars, especially when shared with friends.
6.  The thing that plays with my emotions the most?  Music.
6.5.  It haunts me that I haven't yet learned to play the piano.
7.  I worked for 6 months as a bouncer in an “establishment” in Munich, Germany.

Whew - I did it.

Loved the house.  Put me down for a cafe there too.  And your clothes become dishevled the moment you put them on?  I thought that was just me.

kcidy-   I have to read too.  EVERYTHING and anything.  all the time.  I used to date someone who told me it was rude for me to read at the table when we were eating together.   It didn't last between us.  I often read to someone else while they are driving or bathing or washing dishes or ???   I love to read outloud.

I wonder how one could get a job of reading outloud to make books on tape or cd or mp3????   Oooooh!    I would REALLY like to do that for work.

kcidy– thanks for making a spark for me.  :-)
