What do you prefer to do with others?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 13, 2008:
Most of the time there is no preferring. I love doing things with friends and love equally doing those things alone where it does still seem as though there are others involved, even if they might be other parts of me who may not be as apparent when I am with someone else.
Yesterday was spent in part exploring an abandoned roof caved in ranch with a friend. It is a wonderful feeling to share the joys of such an exploration. A great horned owl watched from the hidden dappled shade of the tree by the back shed. If I had been alone the bird might have been stronger felt. Paul was the one who noticed the owl. He had never seen one wild before. It was a great day.

Help

Oh, one of my best experiences from working at the nature center here was being face to face with a great horned owl week after week…after about a year he tolerated me. I loved being able to be so close, to feed him mice and feel a little nervous being close to him.
“ it does still seem as though there are others involved, even if they might be other parts of me who may not be as apparent when I am with someone else.”
Yes, you describe it so well. We are like the leaves of a tree on a shore by a lake. Each leaf unique. Each seemingly separate. Yet, we are connected to each other and reflected in illusion on the surface of the water. The wind in the branches or the ripples on the lake give us the appearance of movement. We are stillness in motion.
I like to see how other people bring out other parts of me to come play, and I like, these days especially it seems, exploring alone, too.
