What does flourishing mean to you?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 16, 2009:
Flourishing is growth and change together so maybe sometimes it is new growth and sometimes the growth of decay, or in the depth of snow or the rushing meltwater from spring thaw or the dead leaves mulching into new soil. There are little stashes of dried out foodstuffs in the back recesses of my cabinets and drawers and holes for creatures to come and go throuh cracks in my floors and walls. That means to me that my homeplace is flourishing.

Help

Ha ha! I never thought of rodent life as a sign of a flourishing home, though I’m pretty sure kitties do. My apartment before this I lived in Inman Square, with all those restaurants. So a big rodent population. When the city started doing roadwork and the nests were all disturbed, they flocked into the walls of nearby apartment buildings and I could always hear them scurrying around at night. My cats would go flying off the bed, not realizing their interest and alertness were the very thing keeping the mice in the walls instead of crossing over into our home. Next time I hear the scurry, I’ll feel warm and content knowing it means my home is flourishing!
Now the flourishing means just hidden food piles because the little creatures can smell Aigin and never venture in anymore
alas, you’ve traded one company for another. variety is nice, though : )
